Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail

Eburru Forest | My first training trip for the Pacific Crest Trail

By  |

Finally, it was time to head off on my first training trip for the Pacific Crest Trail next April and true to form; this would be a rather extreme outdoor adventure in Eburru Forest. I wanted to use this experience in Eburru Forest to gauge how unprepared I was for the task ahead, and it did not disappoint with challenging trekking and some very wild camping.

Wild camping in Eburru Forest

Starting from the beautiful Lake Naivasha Guesthouse, I was accompanied by a local hunter named Solomon who proceeded to take us into the absolute middle of nowhere on his trusty motorbike. Luscious, dense and especially green, Eburru Forest was the perfect start in terms of training for the PCT in 2018 and this remote jungle in the heart of rural Kenya was a wild camping experience to remember. Check out Vlog#139 below which captures the essence of this adventure into the middle of Eburru Forest…

I'm an Outdoor Adventure Blogger from Dublin, Ireland. In late 2013 I began riding a bicycle across Africa and it was during this adventure when I discovered a passion for the great outdoors and the general uncertainty of life on the road. Next April, I am hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.
