This is the Solo Travel Blog and a continuation of my travels after the Africa bicycle tour. Some of these posts are about solo travel or my journey to become a travel writer. It is here you can also find some useful information in the tab for destinations. For example: I had no idea how to become a travel blogger, it just kind of happened.
Most of what I write about as a solo travel blogger relates to fear, change, anxiety and lifestyle. Therefore, you will find many posts are better suited to a lifestyle blog as opposed to travel.
I get asked for advice so often that it made sense to start putting up some information on Backpacking in Africa so naturally this section deals mostly with Backpacking Africa and general travel advice for Africa.
More about my story
In late 2013 I quit my job, travelled to Cape Town and began cycling Africa. It was drastic action of course, especially considering I had no cycling experience, but I was entirely disillusioned with life and in the midst of a very depressing reality. It was a simple decision which would see me become a full-time outdoor adventure blogger.
As a result of this bicycle tour I would discover many things, not the least of which was an interest in writing about outdoor adventures. Except when I finished the Africa bicycle tour it was incredibly difficult adapting back to my old lifestyle and the routine it brought. In the end, I decided there just had to be a way of turning my passion into something I did for a living and the only way I knew to go about this, was by taking back to life on the road.
I now earn an online income as an outdoor adventure blogger and content writer. At any given time, you might find me writing travel articles at the airport in Doha, sleeping on trains in Thailand, video blogging from the wilds of Africa or exploring the medieval history of Krakow.
